SCC is a public, two year, Ohio community college, established in 1887. The college started out as an adult training facility, and was renamed Sinclair College in 1948.

These days, Sinclair is the largest single-location community college in the state of Ohio, with an enrollment of around 28,000 undergraduate students. The student body is a diverse group that consists of 1 percent International students and 1 percent native American students, among all other kinds of students.

  • $146.28 per credit hour for other Ohio residents 
  • $282.40 per credit hour for out of state and International students


Other fees may also apply, such as a $20 registration fee and a $5 transcript fee, among others. 

Financial aid may be available in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and work study programs, to help students pay for their educations at Sinclair. Students can apply for financial aid by filling out a FAFSA form and turning it in on time.

7. How long does it take to earn a degree from Sinclair Community College?

For full time students at SCC, it should take about two years to complete the course requirements of an Associate's degree. Technical and professional certificates will vary, but often take one year or less to complete. 

For part time students at SCC, how long it takes to earn a degree or certificate will depend on how many classes the student is able to take each semester. 




8. What is the Sinclair Community College campus like?

The SCC campus occupies an urban setting in downtown Dayton, Ohio. The campus is home to several academic buildings, as well as a theater, a library, and a conference center, to name a few. 

There is no on-campus housing available at Sinclair. 

Student activities on campus include a drama group, a music group, an art club, a campus ministry, a paralegal association, an American Sign Language club, a S.T.E.M. club, and a broad range of sports, to name just a few.

The athletic teams at Sinclair are called the Tartans. Intercollegiate sports for men and women at Sinclair include baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball.

9. What is the Sinclair Community College neighborhood like?

Just west of the SCC campus is River's Edge Park, which runs along the shores of the Ohio River. 

Other attractions within walking distance from campus are the Tri-College Bookstore, the Dayton Art Institute Museum, and the University of Dayton, which is located roughly two miles southeast of the SCC campus. Also around the area are numerous places to eat. 

The walkability is excellent in this neighborhood. A car should not be necessary. 

Other colleges within a few miles of SCC include Wright State University, the Miami Jacobs Career College, and Clark State Community College.
