Sesame Chicken Recipe

This Sesame Chicken recipe is spectacular!

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • Marinade
  • 3 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dry sherry
  • 3 drops sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

 

For the Marinade:

  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of chili paste
  • 1 clove of minced garlic

 

For Frying

  • 4 cups of peanut oil

 

For Serving

  • 3 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons of chopped scallions


DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Mix the marinade ingredients (light soy sauce, dry sherry, 3 drops sesame oil, flour, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 2 tablespoons water, baking powder, baking soda and vegetable oil)
  3. Soak chicken pieces in the marinade for 30 minutes.
  4. To prepare the sauce, place 1/2 cup water, chicken broth, white vinegar, 1/4 cup cornstarch, sugar, dark soy sauce, 2 tablespoons sesame oil, chili paste and garlic in a small pot and bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
  5. Turn the heat down to low and keep warm while you are deep-frying the chicken.
  6. Heat peanut oil in a deep skillet over a medium-high heat.
  7. Add the marinated chicken pieces a few at a time, and deep-fry until golden brown (about 4-6 minutes).
  8. Drain chicken pieces on paper towels and then repeat the process with the rest of the chicken pieces.
  9. Just before you are finished deep-frying, bring the sauce back up to a boil.
  10. Place the chicken on a large platter and pour the sauce over it.
  11. Sprinkle chicken with sesame seeds.
  12. Sprinkle all with chopped scallions.
  13. Serve with rice.
