Of course, no wine recipe is entirely simple and most wine makers use special equipment and unusual ingredients to get the job done. Wine is usually aged for anywhere from three months to a year, depending on your desired sweetness or dryness.

strawberry wine

INGREDIENTS:

  • Three (3) pounds of fresh strawberries
  • Two (2) pounds of granulated sugar
  • Two (2) Tablespoons of citric acid
  • enough water to total one full gallon (use filtered water or bottled spring water) 
  • wine yeast and nutrient 


DIRECTIONS:

  1. Start five pints of water boiling.
  2. Place all of the ingredients except for the yeast into a crock pot.
  3. Crush the fruit with your hands in the pot, then cover the crushed fruit with five pints of boiling water.
  4. Stir the mixture with wooden spoon to dissolve the sugar.
  5. Use the wooden spoon to mash the strawberries.
  6. When the mixture has cooled to about 85 degrees Farenheit, add the yeast.
  7. Cover, set aside and stir the mixture once a day.
  8. After seven days, strain the crushed fruit and transfer the remaining liquid to another fermentation vessel.
  9. Add water to total one gallon.
  10. Fit the fermentation trap in place and set the mixture aside.
  11. Rack it after thirty days
  12. Rack it again after another thirty days.
  13. Bottle the wine when the liquid is clear.
  14. Allow the wine to age for at least six months. If desired, let it age for one year.
