California, Nevada, and Florida unemployment rates have increased more than other states over the past several years.

Colorado ranks best as of 2017, with a low 2.3 percent unemployment rate. However, employment rates are ever changing, and Hawaii still has the lowest unemployment rate, on average. 

Washington DC has a 6.0 percent unemployment rate as of 2017. The national average as of this date is 4.3 percent.
