Coastline Community College (CCC) is one of the most frequently searched colleges in America, according to a recent internet keyword search of United States colleges. 


Coastline is a California community college that was founded in 1976. The school currently maintains a student body of more than 15,000 undergraduates each semester, in both credit and non credit courses. 

CCC is part of the Coastline Community College district, which also includes Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, and Golden West College in Huntington Beach. The colleges in this district are part of the California Community College System, which consists of 114 community colleges altogether. 

Coastline College has three coastal learning centers in Orange County, a part of southern California not too far from L.A. CCC primarily serves the greater Los Angeles area. 

Coastline is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and the U.S. Department of Education.

4. Who should attend Coastline Community College?

CCC is an appropriate choice for people who live in or around Los Angeles, and want to save money on their college educations.

CCC also features numerous skilled trade certificate programs for people who want to join the workforce immediately after graduation.  

The college offers military benefits for those who qualify.

According to the Coastline website, the total student cost of tuition and fees to enroll at CCC is:

  • $46 per unit (enrollment fee only) for California residents
  • $271 per unit for out of state residents

Other fees may also apply. These may include application fees, materials fees, parking fees, and ID card fees, among others. 

Financial aid may be available in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and work study programs, to help students pay for their educations at Coastline. Students must completely fill out a FAFSA form to apply. 




7. How long does it take to earn a degree from Coastline Community College?

For a full time student, it should take about two years to earn an Associate's degree. Skilled trade certificates can take up to one year, although many certificates can be completed in less than one year. 

However, roughly nine out of ten students enrolled at CCC attend the school part time. For these students, it is up to each student to decide how long it will take to earn a degree. 




8. What is the Coastline Community College campus like?

The college is home to several mini campuses, featuring well-maintained academic and administrative buildings of modern architectural style. 

There is no student housing available at Coastline, although apartment buildings are situated throughout the areas. 

This community college does not have any athletic teams.

The weather is always beautiful here. 

The Newport Beach location of CCC is situated near many conveniences, less than a mile from the "downtown" part of Newport Beach, and very close to the ocean. 

The Garden Grove location of CCC, being situated right in the heart of Garden Grove, is also surrounded by conveniences such as restaurants and markets. There's even a Costco wholesaler nearby.  

The Le-Jao Center in Westminster is situated along the northern edge of Sid Goldstein Freedom Park, within walking distance of conveniences such as a Walgreen's Pharmacy, a food market, several eateries, and numerous apartment complexes.

Coastline actually began as a "distance learning" college. These days, Coastline is the first college to offer a complete degree available entirely through your cell phone or other pocket digital device.
